We meditate to calm and clear our mind. By focussing on an object, a thought, sound, breath, symbolic hand gestures or movement we can calm our mind. In this peaceful state we feel relaxed and connected to spirit.
There are many benefits to meditating. Meditating can assist us to relax, help reduce stress and pain, increase feelings of calm and inner peace, help us to stay in the now, reduce tension, develop spiritually and find clarity.
While meditating it is natural for our minds to wander. We just need to bring our mind back to our point of focus. As with anything we get better with practice.
